Interior Design

Elsie Nanji & Associates

I have over two years of experience as a multidisciplinary designer in architecture and interiors, having worked with Elsie Nanji & Associates in Mumbai. During this time, I contributed to high-end residential projects across all phases, from early concept development through to execution. My work involved developing spatial layouts, refining material palettes, and producing detailed drawings that translated design intent into precise, buildable outcomes.

I was closely involved in shaping the material and spatial language of each project, thinking through proportion, transitions, and how different elements come together to create a cohesive environment. Alongside design development, I coordinated with vendors, consultants, and contractors to ensure alignment between drawings and on-site execution, and to resolve details as projects moved into construction.

This experience gave me a strong understanding of how design decisions carry through into built form, and how materiality, furniture, lighting, and detailing ultimately shape how a space is experienced and inhabited over time.

A 4,000 sq ft Museum of Living History was designed for Mahindra at their Worli headquarters, tracing the group’s 75-year evolution through stories of people, innovation, and values. The space takes the form of a spiraling nautilus shell, symbolizing growth, and integrates immersive installations, films, and interactive elements. Dramatic lighting, a Formula E simulator, an amphitheater with a skylight, and a curated outdoor garden together create a layered, experiential narrative environment.

In the penthouse of a primary residential building in Malabar Hill, South Mumbai, a bedroom with a balcony was envisioned as a luxury pied-a-terre.

A multi-layered terrace on Malabar Hill, with uninterrupted views overlooking the city of Mumbai as well as the Arabian Sea needed re-imagining. The space was transformed with outdoor lounge seating to enjoy the views, a bar, a dining area, and an outdoor home theatre for watching movies under the stars.

A 30-year-old home in Alibagh, re-imagined to make the most of the breathtaking sea views from every room. Doors opened up and terraces redone to create personalized outdoor living spaces. A weathered brick flooring, inspired by old Spanish villas extends into all common indoor areas.

The brief was to design a simple corporate office for RPG Lifesciences, a global healthcare brand, at the RPG Headquarters in Worli. With meticulous and detailed coordination and planning between a team of expert architects, designers and the brand team, this space came into being with a calm and soothing ambience.

Spread over 4 acres along the seaside in Breach Candy, Mumbai, The Harish Mahindra Park was resurrected during the pandemic. It brings joy to the lives of children, and enables them to enjoy the outdoors, and explore nature in their own neighborhood. The beautiful large trees provide shelter, and special areas are envisioned to accommodate play for all age groups on swings, seesaws, and in sandcastles. The children can scale heights on the rope pyramid climbers, find their balance on sway alleys, explore a jungle trail, and play among the animals and scary sharks. An exciting experience for children with limited outdoor spaces. A medicinal garden helps the children learn about and recognize various herbs and plants, used for everyday immunity and wellbeing.
